The 5,000 inhabitants of Milos Island earn their living primarily through tourism and mining, and to a lesser extend through fishing, farming and agriculture.

Syros has its mountainous part to the North, where, in Ano Meria, or Ano Syros, towers the Catholic church of St. George, built in the middle Ages and this area is characterized by paths, bridges and secret beaches, and also the lowland part, to the South, with precious villages and fantastic beaches.
