4-Day Andasibe-Mantadia Short Trip-Private Accommodated – The perfect short trip for anyone who has only very limited time to experience the extraordinary fauna and flora of Madagascar, the third largest island in the world.
80% of all species and 90% of all plants found here are endemic to the island.
From Antananarivo, Andasibe-Mantadia National Park can be reached by car, which saves the hassle of flying around. This is also a good option for an extension to other itineraries.
At Antananarivo airport you will be met and thereafter taken to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, where you will stay for 3 nights at Vakona Forest Lodge, to get a short insight of Madagascar’s endemic wildlife. The drive only takes about 3 hours. Settle-in and then once the sun set go on a night walk in Mitsinjo Forest.
You will take just 15 minutes down the road from Vakona today, to Anamalazotra National Park, named after the river flowing through and also a home to the biggest of all lemurs – the Indri Indri. Diadem and brown lemurs can also be found here and of course, again all sorts of smaller reptiles and also birds.
You will be taken to the entrance of Mantadia National Park in the morning, where you will meet a local guide, who will take you on a full day track through the park, in the search of different lemur species – mainly diadem sifaka – as well as different reptiles and also birds.
You will go on a canoe excursion around lemur island and also into Lemur Island after breakfast to see and feed the lemurs living on there. Thereafter, you will be taken back to Antananarivo airport, where your short jungle escape ends.
